Theo Ruth can be considered the Pioneer of Artifort’s design traditions. First as a furniture maker and in 1939 he became head of the design- and manufacturing department. Ruth was Artifort’s first permanent designer. He was well known for his cutting edge designs for mainly living rooms. His most famous chairs are the Congo (1952) and Penguin chair. He also inspired a lot of other designers at Artifort.
